It’s been about 9 long months of social distancing for us. The weather has gotten cold here in Michigan, and the kids and I are flat out bored! I’m trying to keep up with my monthly themed “parties” so that we have something to look forward to. The kids were so excited about this month’s Grinch Party!
THE FOOD
It’s always fun to switch it up a bit and make breakfast for dinner. Mom’s homemade waffles are always a huge hit. The kids got a kick out of the fact that I made them green to fit our theme. The homemade strawberry syrup and whipped cream are a must!
FESTIVE SIDE DISH
Who doesn’t love a mix of sugary popcorn and candy? I combined some ideas I got off Pinterest and made a yummy grinch popcorn. I simplified things and used microwave popcorn, white chocolate chips (melted with green food coloring), mini marshmallows, and Christmas m and m’s. It was a quick easy treat, and the kids loved it!
THE DRINKS
This is always Mom’s favorite. Every themed party has a signature cocktail- CHEERS! This month, I went with the classic Midori Sour, and let me tell you, it definitely brought back memories of being 21. For a cute, festive decorative detail, dip the rim of your cup in simple syrup and then in colored sanding sugar. These drinks are always a hit! The kids also get cups with a decorative rim and a mocktail punch (sherbet with sprite- our own mom’s go to recipe)!
THE CRAFT
I always search Pinterest and look for a simple craft that we can put together easily with items we already have in the house. The kids got a kick out of this easy grinch craft- all you need is a white paper plate, green crayon or marker, some google eyes, red construction paper, and some cotton balls, and voila-suddenly you’re in Whoville with the Grinch.
We hope you all are staying sane out there! We know this year has been hard on so many people. We’re thankful for our health, family, friends, and all of you! Merry Christmas everyone!
Love, ️
