Dry Bar Birmingham

untitled.png8

Christina and I visited the Dry Bar in Birmingham the other week. I had seen places like this in California and Chicago and hoped one would come to our area soon. I was so excited when I heard of their Birmingham location. It was my first time visiting a place like this and it did not disappoint!
The layout of the place is beautiful – it’s so bright and open. We were greeted with mimosas and an impressive menu of different blowout styles to chose from. The staff was super friendly and helpful in choosing which style may fit the look you’re going for. Christina and I ended up picking two different styles, and we both loved the finished product.

The dry bar is a perfect place to get glammed up before a wedding or a night out. They also entertain larger groups, so it would be ideal for a birthday celebration or bachelorette party. Christina and I both walked away with some great hair products too. They have an extensive selection of products to choose from, and they all smell great!

Luxury Garage Sale (LGS)

I had the opportunity to go to the opening event at the luxury garage sale pop up in Birmingham, MI last month. It was such a great experience! I have never bought any second hand luxury items in the past, but the quality and price of these products were so great! Honestly, it was a lot better than I expected, and now I’m wondering if I can ever buy a full priced designer item again.

LGS

At first I was obsessing over this amazing D&G bag. I actually can’t stop thinking about it still! LGS was selling this great purse for about 75% off original retail.

LGS2

I decided to look around a little more and ultimately went with something that had a little less of a bold pattern. I ended up purchasing this amazing gold Stella McCartney bag, and I absolutely love it.

LGS4

Unfortunately, Jennifer wasn’t able to make the event, but I brought home this great silver Stella purse for her. How cute and gorgeous is this?

LGS3

So many of the clothing items were stunning also. I tried some things on, but I decided to behave myself and stick with the purses only. The LGS pop up has moved on to another location, but they have some amazing online items, and they are always getting new apparel in. Click this link to connect to their site.

Happy luxury shopping everyone!

Think Spring

IMG_3528edit

The weather was finally pretty warm in Michigan this past week. Of course a couple days after these pictures were taken, we had a big snow storm! I’m hoping we get some nice weather again soon.

I wanted to share one of my newest favorite outfits with you guys. This great twist tie thermal is from Evereve (linked here),and it’s so comfortable. I’ve never been the biggest fan of tucking in my shirt when wearing jeans, but the knot on this top allows for an effortless, comfortable, and slightly cropped look. Here’s some other great twist tie tops that I love:

I like wearing a slightly cropped top with high waisted jeans. These from Topshop have been my favorite for a couple years!

The distressing goes so well with the relaxed look of the thermal top. These are currently out of stock, but here are a couple other great options:

And this amazing bralette is from amazon! It’s so inexpensive, and I love it because it has a little bit of padding unlike some of the other ones out there.  It also comes in a lot of different colors which I love.

Here are some other great bralette options below:

And you can’t forget this wool hat from H&M. It’s super comfortable and great for spring.

I just got these great booties from Nordstrom. They are super cute and surprisingly comfy. These along with some other great options are linked below. And they’re all on sale! Happy shopping everyone!

Favorite Travel Items

untitled

We recently returned from a great trip to Las Vegas. The warm weather, great food, and amazing shopping options got me out of a little winter funk. I have always loved traveling ever since I was young. I remember when our dad would take us on trips when I was in high school and college, and I would always get so excited to pick out my outfits for each adventure. I also remember insisting on dressing up a little even for the plane ride. At this age, I just can’t handle anything even slightly uncomfortable for airport attire-especially when traveling with kids! But I still like to look fashionable at all times :0) Here’s a quick list of some of my favorite super stylish but comfortable travel gear, and most of these items won’t break the bank!

Comfortable shoes are a must for me especially when traveling with kids. Here are some great options below:

I love pairing a cropped jean with tennis shoes or flats. Here are some great jean and legging options for travel:

And you can’t forget a cute comfortable top. The madewell tee is my new favorite. It’s so affordable, and I love the length (not too long). Here are some great layering options below:

His and Her’s: Favorite Valentine’s Day Gifts

On Valentine’s Day, I love to buy gifts not only for my husband, but also for people in my life who are extra special to me.  I tend to be a last minute shopper though, and I totally stress myself out trying to find unique Valentine’s Day gifts. This year I got my shopping done early, and I’m sharing my favorite gift ideas below for anyone else who may need some extra help finding that special gift for your loved ones.

For him:
I don’t know about you, but I think husbands can be one of the hardest people to shop for. My husband can never tell me anything he wants, and he pretty much buys everything he needs. I love giving keepsakes to him for Valentine’s Day, but this year I was out of ideas. This Jord watch was perfect for him. The beautiful wood design looks great on his wrist, and my favorite thing about this watch is that you can engrave a special Valentine’s Day message on the back of it. It’s a perfect combination of a functional and sentimental gift. Jord watches is giving 100 dollars off to one lucky winner if you enter your information by February 4. All others will receive a 10 percent off coupon.

After having kids, I love giving gifts to my husband that forces us to spend some alone time together! A massage for a couple is a fun romantic gift that is perfect for Valentine’s Day. Combining it with a special dinner will make for the perfect evening. If you’re in the Detroit area, check out some of my favorite spas below:

For her:

I love to get jewelry, but I think something that is personalized is an extra special gift for Valentine’s Day. I’ve seen a lot of nameplate necklaces out there, but the ones from Brook and York  are my favorite. They have a ton of beautiful necklace, ring, and bracelet options for you to personalize. It’s a great gift or any mommy or grandma

My husband gave me this adorable heart shaped tea set for Valentine’s Day last year. I get so many complements on this set! I love drinking my coffee and tea in these cups. The heart shaped design is so charming, and they’re beautifully made. A set of six is really affordable at under 60 dollars. It’s a great idea for that special grandma, mom, auntie, or friend in your life too. You can’t go wrong with these!

Valentine’s Day With My Kids

IMG-6233

I love celebrating Valentine’s Day with my kids. Although this holiday is oftentimes thought of as a “couple’s day,” I still have so much fun doting on my 3 little loves. For the last couple years, I have hosted a kids’ Valentine’s Day brunch at my house with my children and their cousins. It’s such a fun way to celebrate the season of love. We make homemade Belgian waffles with strawberry syrup, and I make each child one of these cute heart shaped Nutella sandwiches. Now that our oldest kids are 4, they get so excited when they can recognize their name on the sandwich. These great sandwich/cookie cutters with personalized messages are available on Amazon. I have had them for 4 years now, and I couldn’t be more happy with them. Do you have any cute ways you celebrate Valentine’s Day with your family? Thinking Forward to Valentine’s Day

IMG_2772edit
Does anyone else have a husband that’s so hard to shop for? I can never think of anything for the guy who seems to have everything he needs. For special holidays like Valentine’s Day I like to find something for him that is personal and functional. This unique men’s watch from Jord watches was the perfect solution. The beautiful wood detail is so elegant and goes with everything. You can even engrave a special message on the back to make it a great personal gift for your significant other. It’s a perfect solution for my “hard-to-shop-for” guy!

Thanksgiving outfit

Favorite Fall Outfit
Hi Everyone!  Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and I thought I would share one of my favorite fall outfits that would be so cute to wear on turkey day.  This set is chic and comfortable, and most items are pretty reasonably priced (some are on sale)!  I linked the items below.   These pieces would also be great to add to a Christmas wish list.  Happy shopping everyone!

On sale! I think high waist jeans are SO comfortable.

These booties are also on sale.  I would size down by 1/2 a size.

Love this purse! The neutral color goes with everything.

How great is this bangle? It reads “she believed she could, so she did” #girlpower

Isn’t this kate spade “state of mind” pendant adorable? I’m loving the MI mitten design!

This scarf is so perfect for the fall and only $26.

I love the dramatic sleeve on this cozy sweater.  And you can’t go wrong with this color.

Leather and Lace

IMG_0368edit

When the bodysuit came out this season I loved how it looked but wasn’t so sure I could pull it off. It’s surprisingly comfortable and easy to wear! I love pairing it with a dark skirt for fall. I find the relaxed fit of a skirt helps to balance out the tightness of the bodysuit, especially for those of us who have a bit of a softer midsection. Christina’s outfit is from BCBG, and mine is from Rococo.  Throw on some cute heels, and you’re ready for a night out.

Love, Jennifer

Halloween Treat

I love celebrating fall events with my children. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because my kids get so excited about it! Here’s a short tutorial on how to make this adorable little edible (and healthy) Frankenstein that I made for my oldest son. He was so excited when he saw it!

1. Gather your ingredients: You will need 3 kiwi fruit, some purple grapes, cucumber skin, banana, blueberries, and julienne carrots.

*You end up using only small amounts of some of the above fruits and veggies-I ended up bringing the rest to work to munch on the next day.

IMG_0008edit

2. Peel the kiwi and slice it so that mainly the green areas are visible. Cut your grapes in half length wise, and assemble like below.

IMG_0021edit

3. Place the banana and blueberries on the kiwi to make the eyes. Assemble the carrots like mine below for Frankenstein’s “scar”. Use the peels of the cucumber and the kiwi for the mouth and side details as shown below.

IMG_0025edit

4. Here’s my favorite part: Accessorize! You can find some cute and inexpensive Halloween décor at places like Target or even the grocery store. I used these adorable rings and finger puppets to jazz things up a bit. My kids loved this! Try this at home, and let me know how it goes!
